Search hints:

  • Searches are not case sensitive (e.g.: computer will find matches for computer, Computer and COMPUTER).

  • Boolean AND is assumed between words. You may use the Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT in your search string (e.g.: you could type heart or cardiac to retrieve all records having heart or cardiac in them).

  • In order to search for the word AND in a field, enclose AND in quotes (e.g.: red "and" black).

  • Use the wildcards *  or ?  to expand the search term. *  or ?  substitutes for zero or more letters before, after, or in the middle of a portion of a word (e.g.: "fish*" finds fish, fishes, fishing, etc.; "*psychology" finds psychology, parapsychology, or biopsychology; and "alumi*m" finds aluminium or aluminum).

  • Use #  to find variant spellings of a word by up to two letters (e.g.: "visuali#e" finds visualise  and visualize; "arch#eology" finds archaeology  and archeology; and "lad#s" finds lady's  or ladies  but not ladders).

  • Use !  to limit variant spellings in words where a single character only may vary (e.g.: "wom!n" finds women  or woman; and "theat!!" finds theatre  or theater  but not theatrical).
